I am a PhD geek turned financier who knows first hand how stressful living (try working in the markets in London and you’ll see!) can do a number on your body. I am no stranger to hard work, and pulling all-nighters. So I used this very same energy in how I took care of myself while religiously following mainstream healthy advice. Funny how it only led me to a deeper burn-out.
I began my training in nutrition with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I studied over 100 dietary theories developed over the past decades and some going back hundreds and thousands of years. I continued my studies with courses in biochemistry, Ayurveda, Chinese medicine, Facial Analysis, to name a few. However, only after I discovered the body of researched done by Dr. Ray Peat on thyroid, metabolism, female reproductive system and ageing I began to understand what my body needed.
I began devouring his articles and books applying his principles and recommendations and slowly connecting the dots in my own health history. I gave up dieting once and forever. I started feeding my body the foods it had been starving for. I began feeling better within a short span of time (a week maybe). I started feeling warmer and cosier in my own skin. My mood improved and I slept like a baby.
That said, I was rather “clumsy” and made a lot of mistakes in the beginning. Going from reading Dr. Peat’s articles to deciding what am I going to have for dinner is a no simple matter! His articles are rather complicated. And there is no “cookie cutter” diet but rather a body of fascinating research. Eventually, I started working with a health coach knowledgable and inspired by Dr. Ray Peat’s research. At last, everything fell into place helping me to achieve the optimal state of my health and weight.
